outside our normal midwest offer region.

Bjoern Werner - DT - Salisbury, CT
Alton Baily - DT Seffner, FL
Justin Wilson - OLB - Davie, FL
Martavious Lee - WR - San Marcos, CA

Recruiting tactics are taking an interesting and welcome turn.

The question is, are these recruits the cream of the crop in their respective states, or are they 2 and 3-star athletes looking to go to a D-1 school?

I know it doesn't look promising to get Lee as he has LSU at the top of his list but he would be exactly what the team needs going into next season.

Scout has Baily as a 3 star, probably going to LSU.

I wonder how much of this is getting to know HS coaches in different parts of the country, so the recruiters will be a bit more welcome next time.

What are the chances we get each of them. I looked them up on Rivals but have any of you heard them talking about us in Interviews?

I don't think any of them are very likely to commit, but it is nice to see us expanding into other territories outside of the typical Missouri and Texas.

Florida is fertile recruiting ground and could provide some gems in the near future. Josh Henson will get somoeone, eventually, he just has to get Mizzou's name out there.

Another Florida DE, Michael Douglas, is a guy to keep an eye on. Not sure if he has a Missouri offer, but I like the kid.

I wish we could somehow get into Mississippi for recruiting. For their population they have proportionately (not total) more D1 and Pro players than Texas. They have some great players but they mostly go to the 3 state schools or other Southeast teams. Tough nut to crack.

It is nice to see our recruiting expand to other areas outside of Texas and MO. Most of those players mentioned above are either contingency plans or unlikely to commit to MU. Wilson is the exception, as Henson thinks he may be able to lure him out of FL. With Ealy committing, Mike Douglas is off the board most likely.

Regardless, it's good to get your foot in the door with as many of these schools as possible for future recruiting endeavors.

One guy that wasn't mentioned is Darvin Ruise out of Florida. He's 6'2" 218 Lbs and a safety. He isn't rated yet, but has offers from Georgia Tech, LSU, South Carolina and Tennesse. And it's believed that Mizzou is his favorite. Some expect him to commit on his visit.

And we probably won't take any more DE's with Ealy verballing.

Yeah, Ruise is a stud. Lots of big offers for the kid. Gachkar, Gooden hybrid role is what I envision for him. Looks like we are on top here.

Wilson, I also believe we have a good shot with him.

Lee, looks like we have fallen behind here but the one thing we have going for us is there is alot of PT coming available next year at WR for anyone who wants to step up and grab it. He's JUCO kid with only two years, so the chance to play early has to be high on his list.

Wonder how much of this has to do with Henson joining the recruiting/coaching staff? Funny how all a sudden we are in SEC land and getting the attention of some pretty talented guys from the area. I completely agree it is time they expand, if you cast a large enough net out there you obviously help your chances it netting more big fish.
