One DOES wonder how many of the forum posters here are sympathetic to this guy's concept of 'justice'.

This dude needs to resign or at the very least NOT marry anyone. There is no excuse for this type of discrimination at all.

All that said .... a Justice of the Peace does NOT issue a Marriage License. He never "refused a license" to anyone ... he refused to marry a couple. Marry one, marry all - that's the way it has to be, it's 2009 not 1950. IF he can't do that then he has to resign. He is living in the past, but he has lots and lots of company. Many can't figure out for sure if they are living in the slavery days or the Jim Crow days. They sure aren't living in the new millennium, have no intention of living in "today" ... the past is so much more convenient.

The headlines have been consistently wrong on this mess ... but it fits so well with the "agenda" that people simply can't help themselves. They have to report it this way, just as the couple who lives in Hammond HAD to go into the country to get this old fool to marry them so they could bring a DOJ case against him. Job well done.

Isn't this guy really just along the same lines as the A-hole whack job pharmacists who won't dispense RU-486 or birth-control pills?

Pharmacists don't dispense RU-486 to a patient; it has to be given by a physician and the use has to be closely monitored.

I'm glad the JOP resigned; he had no business being one since he felt it ok to refuse to marry certain couples who had been issued legal marriage licenses.

Not to nitpick, but pharmacists do dispense medications; it is their primary job along with answering questions about the medication that the patient may have and to communicate with the physician any issues. Physicians prescribe medications but do not actually give medications unless it is from their sample-closet.

Insurgent - RU 486 is not given through a pharmacy. It has to be used under medical supervision.

They don't distribute RU-486. Most cases of pharmacist refusal have involved birth control pills, which can be taken in higher doses after intercourse as an emrgency contraceptive.
