Spags and BD have basically let us know how they’re going in next years draft. They are bringing in mostly defensive players every week to try and strengthen the defense during this season. Which makes me believe that unless they our overwhelmed by a defensive player they are going mostly offense in next years draft.

I think Spags feels he can develop defensive players without spending high draft picks.

Oh, I think some people will find their picks offensive, all right. Wink

BTW, do you think they'll go to offense in the first two rounds, like a QB and WR, or will they feel like they have to get a defensive player in one of those rounds?

If there is a pass rushing DE there in the second round I dont see them passing that up(pending on that they do in FA)

We aren't very good at judging talent, and we end up tying up a huge percent of our salary cap on these very high draft picks who don't pan out, and we have no money to retain good players from previous years or to acquire free agents. Look at all the players we've released that are now playing for other teams and are better than anyone on the Rams at their positions. Bruce, Holt, Pace, Warner, Curtis, Witherspoon, Hedgecock, and London Fletcher.

We would be a lot smarter trading the high picks for more lower picks at non-inflated prices. But nobody wants the high very expensive picks so will not trade with us. Instead, we should consider just letting the number one pick time out, and start at the beginning of the second round. Does anyone have a better idea for getting off this treadmill?

I think you guys may be jumping the gun a little...I bet they haven't put nearly as much concentration on the draft yet as some of us have.... Laughing

And when will you be reporting that the sky is blue, Mr. Mortenson?

QB in 1st, WR in 2nd should be without freaking question.

The last thing the Rams need is another defensive bust in the first round...a-la Tye Hill, Carriker and (perhaps on his way) Long.

This post is just a total disaster. I wish a mod would just strike it from the record.. I would be ashamed if an outsider visited this forum and judged Ram fan football knowledge based on what you have said here..

You say "We aren't very good at judging talent":

???????????We? We as in who? the horns logo? the folks who have been judging talent in the past are long gone. Maybe you should start with wikipedia or something.

Bruce, Holt, Pace, Warner, Curtis, Witherspoon, Hedgecock, and London Fletcher

I'm glad all of these guys are gone. Bruce wanted way too much cash for his old legs, Holt was aging and we are rebuilding, besides have you seen him in Jacksonville?? Not the same Holt he once was. Pace is in Chicago who for some reason can't protect Cutler or run with Forte. Warner could not hang on to the ball for 2 years and lied to all of us about a stupid thumb injury,, sure he is doing better than Marc in AZ.. But he has two of the best receivers in the NFL at his disposal. Curtis has been hurt all year, he hasn't done anything. Witherspoon was an aging expensive player, Hedgecock?? really? (as if the fullback is the problem) London Fletcher left 10 years ago, get over it.

I won't even respond to your suggestion of letting the time run out on our pick in order to save a few bucks. Please tell me that you are a 12 year old or a woman.. Either would make sense.

I won't be back here.. Too much garbage like this on here.. I wish there was a place for the people that follow this team to go and share ideas, hopes and dreams and not have to sift through this nonsense.

Well if you are truly glad that Warner, Holt, Bruce Fletcher and Witherspoon are gone (players who are all better than what we currently have at those positions) then I hope you stay away. Because a statement like that not only tells us your football knowledge ranks right down there with Mother Theresa's knowledge of the porn actors' guild, but the message board as a whole receives a collective black eye from your idiocy as well.

Bye fool.

I hope you are right macnasty but I just dont see how you connected bringing in mostly defensive players during the season with BDs offensive draft plans.

Like smith, Long will be fine. Even if he never becomes a star, he will be solid.
