I'm working on a Post-Dispatch Wine Finds column about wines that people keep at home for everyday drinking. Would you be willing to discuss your favorites? Please let me know at stlwinefinds@gmail.com. Cheers! Gail

Beer has made such huge strides in the past 15 years in this country...yet we still seem to focus heavily on the ferment of the grape...

I'm not a wine drinker, but we always keep a bottle of Kendall Jackson around for the wife.

Yo, Bunk...you have noticed that we now run a regular column called "Hip Hops," haven't you?

I like good wine that's cheap.

Yellow Tail Shiraz
and a semi-sweet South African wine:
Makulu Iswithi Pinotage

While not a specific wine, I love the Woot Cellars offerings through wine.woot.com.

They're all value priced around $10 a bottle and I always have a variety of reds and whites in my wine refrigerator.

I have and have commented on an article or two.

This time of year is really a treat for beer junkies - the fall / winter seasonals are starting to make their way out and there will be some really good stuff out there.

Nothing fancy at our house - Lagaria Merlot & Fontana Candida Frascati, plus some Santa Cristina chianti from time to time. Still have a couple inexpensive Proseccos and some Segura Viudas lying around, too.

The Pinot fad pushed the Lagaria off the shelves at the grocery level a few years ago, so we pick 'em up at Urzi's.

Cheap bastage that I am, and to honor my ancestors' traditions, I keep a gallon jug of Carlo Rossi, either Paisano or the Burgundy, around for a wee nip in a juice glass late in the evening. Strictly for the antioxidants Very Happy The preservatives make it remarkably shelf-stable so it doesn't get funky the day after you open it. Smile I also don't look sideways if a friend brings me some decent Finger Lakes favorites.

I'm a big fan of the various offerings from Cameron Hughes. I picked up a couple of bottles from Sams a while back and now we will order pretty regularly from the CH website.
