I live in Central Florida, literally one mile from Orlando. This is pretty frightening. I work in Kissimmee so I have no clue what's going on.

I speculate that if the gunman turns out to be a non-Muslim, no one will blame his religion for what he did, and stereotype all of his religion's followers.

Two people are dead and six are wounded in a mass shooting at an office building in downtown Orlando.

Bodies were found on the 12th and 8th floor of Legions Place, a 16-floor building north of Colonial Drive. Only the 12th floor has been cleared. The shooter has not been found, said Deputy Chief Mike Droege of the Orlando Fire Department.

"The building is not secure now," he said. "It's still unfolding."

Seven people were taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center.

A witness has told WFTV that a man who previously worked in the building walked inside and opened fire.

I predict he is shorter than 5'2" and suffers from the complex.

A local television reported that up to 50 paramedics were rushed to the scene.

riigggght so the guy yesterday handing out qurans and yelling god is good in arabic just did that because it wasnt religiously motivated and had nothing to do with religion...good job!

We need an eye for an eye...u wanna shoot people u get the death penalty end of story or torture, thatll make people think twice. You dont want that penalty then leave innocent people alone. 30 years in jail for these losers is a lot of times 100x better than their life in society. Its all these freakin human rights weirdos o no we need to treat a mass killer with respect blah blah...SCREW THAT

Are you kidding me? If he is Christian and screamed "Love Jesus" prior to opening fire, there would be an absolute firestorm of hate towards Christianity around here. Where have you been? Laughing

I didn't see the reference to someone handing out the Qu'ran. where is the correlation between this and Ft. Hood?

While I believe the guy responsible in Ft.. Hood is deserving of the death penalty as a treasonous murderer, the person given credit for the "Eye for an Eye" laws, Hammurabi was a Babylonian (i.e Iraqi) King - not even a Jew.

From what little we know so far, I'm not getting the feeling that this is religiously motivated at all.

I don't care what he was yelling out. That by itself doesn't prove anything. Muslims will say to themselves "God is great," or "I rely on God," or "In the name of God," or "praise be to God," regardless of what they're doing, whether it's to eat or sleep or drive a car or open up your chest to perform open-heart surgery. It says nothing about their motivation for the action.

As far as handing out Qurans, I think you are just making that up. What good does it do to hand you a Quran and then shoot you?

Hasan had received deployment orders, military officials said. There were conflicting reports as to whether he was to deploy to Iraq or Afghanistan.

Since 2001, Hasan had been telling his family that he wanted to get out of the military but was unsuccessful, said a spokeswoman for his cousin, Nader Hasan. She added that he told his family that he had been taunted after the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, the spokeswoman said.
