I know I'm probably going to take a beating for this, but I feel the need to throw it out there anyway, so here goes.

The more I watch him, the more I feel like he's just never going to amount to much in the NHL. I see tons of potential and a lot of talent in him, he is obviously a very skilled player. But I feel he's another player from Europe that just isn't going to cut it and will never take that next step. He refuses to play in the difficult areas it seems. I don't see any fire, passion or urgency to his game.

Hope I'm wrong, but I'm calling him a bust. Thoughts?

I don't think he's a bust, but I wouldn't mind seeing them shop him and a prospect/draft pick and get an impact player in the 25 - 27 age range. Especially with the load of young talent the Blues have. JD said last year, they can't keep them all.

I like his size and hands and hope they give him some more time to develop...none of our guys are really producing at this point.

Berglund? Berglund who? Have we had a Berglund on the ice lately?

Disclaimer: Yes, this could be used for almost anyone on the Blues roster.

i think berglund will still be a stud. give him time. last year he was tired as many young players get before they adjust to the longer season. he has had a bad start, but so has backes and boyes. it'll be alright. he still has sick skills.

I realize that, but I'm seeing a lot more effort from guys like Oshie and Perron. I think EJ has played really well. I see flashes from Bergy, but I also see a lot of just going through the motions with him, and that type of thing rarely changes. And that won't cut the mustard. Just sayin'...

I hear what you're saying and agree to a point....but they are different types of players. Bergs is 6'4 and is still growing into his body. He looks effortless sometimes, which gives the impression he's floating. I think he has worked hard of late. Give it time man..he's a kid. Lots of other prospects and/or rookies/sophmores on other teams are struggling as well. It's a man's game.

We'll just wait and see, he's not going anywhere soon that's for sure.

I'm not saying Bergs is a bad player; he's a great player but we need someone Ovechkin's type: 6'2 230ish???

Man give the kid a break he's in his second year and it seems like every one thinks he should be a star already. It takes time and he isn't the only blue to struggle and maybe just maybe it's Murry's system that's holding him back.

Wow...what a bunch of short-sighted, over-reacting, negative-Nancies we have on this board tonight. I guarantee if the Blues were to make Berglund available, there'd be 29 teams lined up with tremendous offers to take him off the Blues hands.

I'm so thankful that we've got real talent evaluators in this organization and that moves aren't dictated by the majority vote of the fans. Giving up on a 6'4" 21 year old center who possesses the skills not seen of a Blues draftee in decades might be the single stupidest thing I've heard on this board.

Is he struggling? You betcha...but if you can't see that at the age of 24 or 26 that he could very well be one of the premiere talents in this league, then your opinion doesn't hold much water. Sit back and watch these kids actually develop instead of expecting instant gratification. If you don't want to do that, then the St. Louis Blues are probably not the team that you'll have much interest in following over the next several season.
