Rep. Barney Frank admitted Friday that he was sitting on the porch of his partner’s Maine home when police came to arrest his partner for marijuana possession.
Frank, responding to new reports that he was present during the Aug. 2007 arrest of James Ready, said in a statement he was unaware Ready had marijuana plants.
According to a police report obtained by MyFoxBoston, Maine police arrested and charged James Ready with marijuana possession, cultivation and use of drug paraphernalia. He pleaded guilty to civil possession and paid a fine. The remaining charges were dismissed last year.
Frank was not charged.
Frank is the author of a medical marijuana bill that would outlaw the prosecution of persons who use marijuana for medicinal purposes.

I admire Mr Frank for his dedication to overturning our country's ridiculous marijuana laws.
I just have a hard time believing he was unaware of his partners plants.
But I understand why he may be hesitant to be completely forthcoming about this. He is a politician after-all. And if his partner got any special treatment regarding his case; I'm ok with that too. Whats right is right. The laws are unfair and unjust. Hopefully there comes a day when these ridiculous, unfair, and unjust laws are overturned.
I'm rooting for Barney Frank to succeed in rectifying and reforming our country's marijuana laws.
Didn't he also plead ignorance when one of his partners was running a gay prostitution ring from the basement of his DC apartment?
Weird that we entrust such a clueless individual to such a position of authority, isn't it?
