I am not a Desmet fan, but Desmet is loaded.... if Desmet don't make it this year... i dont know
Let me help you out. If Desmet dose not make it this year then another team will have won the State Title.

After watching both teams on a couple of occassions I would have to give the edge to Jeff City. DeSmet is loaded with speed and talent but they lack a dominating O-Line and D-Line. Jeff City is solid upfront and will be sound when it comes to their assignments. DeSmet likes to get to the edge and use that speed and their is a reason for that. Their O-Line is not very good and does not equate to pounding the ball. JC is pretty easy to figure out. They will line up and run triple option, midline, double option, play action and a little Spread. This should be a great game and very entertaining. Could be a very high scoring game. I give the edge to Jeff City based on a harder schedule and some really good linemen. Not to take anything away from Desmet but they will be hard-pressed to "get the edge".

Bigtimer, I have to disagree with your statement about Desmets O and D lines. Thier Oline is very Athletic. Thier 2 tackles get outside defenders reached as quickly as I have seen. Thats why the backs have thier success getting the edge. Isom McClenndan Gibson and Corwin were by far the best Dline our team played all year, including Jeff. City.Jeff city also has a very good Oline. maybe even slightly better than Desmets. Just my opinion but Desmets Dline and defense in general is substancialy better than Jeff citys D. Both teams have great backs but Desmet has a huge advantage in other skill kids. One thig about Jeff city they will be well prepared and extremly well coached.Jeff. city is a tradtion rich programbut with that being sid Desmet looks to be a couple TDs better.

If Jeff City's OLINE can take control of the game, DeSmet won't win. And let's face it, DeSmet has played NOBODY of ANY magnitude. One thing is for certain, friday night is DeSmet's first true test.

False... Desmet is undersized (as always) but they are strong and athletic on both fronts (as always)
And yes I think this is desmets first real test. If they lose then stl is done because the spartans are hands down the best team in the area (all classes)

Quick and athletic only goes so far when outmanned by 45 pounds per man. It will work for 2.5 quarters, but I foresee huge holes for Mr.Walker when the middle of the 3rd comes around.

Also, and I'm surprised nobody has brought this up, but DeSmet has NEVER had any starter in past the middle of the 3rd quarter this year. That's not good.......

i guess you forgot about Desmet in '05 when they won state, their offensive line was Jim Bunten 5-8 and 200 pounds, left guard Sean Dietz, a former fullback 5-8 and 180 pounds, left tackle Mitch Grewe is 6-3 and 205 pounds, and Right Guard Patrick Mahoney 5-9 and 180 pounds who moved from fullback to Oline and Paddy Mullen, 6-5, 260 pounds, moved from tight end to right tackle in the middle of the season.

who went up agaisnt a dominate rockhurst offensive and defensive line and beat them by 20

That's not the reason they won by 20. They won by 20 because Corwin et co. were throwing against a secondary decimated by injuries (Scheelhaase and Langtry were forced into starting roles as freshmen).

the lines were the biggest advantage they had in 05, and people are saying that the size differential is going to play a major factor here as well, when i say size isnt the only thing that matters

and rockhurst still had in there defesive backfield Jerome Jackson (Kansas State)and Phillip Strozier (kansas) and sheelshasse was stil a h*ll of a player

Strozier could only guard one guy. And Jackson didn't play after the 1st quarter with a horribly pulled hamstring...dude couldn't even run.

Run Tori Run,Ive seen both the Jays and the Spartans and the edge both physically and Athleticly goes to Desmet. Have you seen Desmet play? Your in for a real surprise. I have not seen the Rock play but they need to be real good to play with Desmet . The Jays will have to play a perfect game in order to keep it conpetative.

I just don't buy what you're selling. Jeff City has played a very hard schedule, and DeSmet has played cupcakes all year long. If Jeff/Rock/BS played the same schedule, the results would have been the same.

We'll see friday. Arguing it now is moot.
