Congrats Jacob on Player Of The Game on the BTN.

Hawthorne gets it going again!!!

The freshmen take a leadership role!

Clay Nurse and the D-line played great today.

Keep it rollin' ILLINI!

The kid looked pretty good. A great win and it was awesome for us to come back and get that last TD after Minny had all of the momentum after back-to-back scores.

I hope we can beat NU next week... I freaking HATE losing to them...

Sounds like Charest had a great game and that most/all of those 9 incompletions were actually drops by the receivers.

Even though he had a couple of nice catches, Cumberland dropped 3 passes.....legitimate catch-able passes. How he still receives playing time is beyond me. I guess it's the mismatch his height presents. Great size for a receiver, good speed, physical....he just has hands like slippery moss.

What a quarterback. They finally have the right guy in there. If we can get our pass game going with Benn and Fayson there will be no stopping for the Illini.

Go Terry Hawthorne! Ever since he's been in there he's done all good thing. Zook finally learned. Did you see yesterday he had a interception for a TD and had a broken up pass in the end zone that forced Minnesota to kick a field goal. If they would have scored there Minnesota would have won.

Juice Williams was 5-for-5 with a TD pass before injuring his ankle. This off the heels of a pretty good performance against Michigan.

Does Juice lose his starting job due to injury, given his improved performance of late? Merely posing the question.

Also would like to point out how amazingly better any QB looks when accompanied by a running game and a defense that actually makes some plays.

Much to the chagrin it seems of most Illini fans that love to hate Juice, my guess is that - if healthy - Juice will be back in there starting. Charest will no doubt be getting his share of PT off the bench though, regardless of how well Juice is playing.

I don't think that most of the fans that have expressed dissapointment in Juice's performance hate him for that. I do think that most people that have expressed dissatisfaction with his performance feel that as a senior QB his performance should have been better. He is obviously not the only reason for the teams overall poor results, but he is the leader on the field and he has failed in his leadership role, much like Zook has during much of his 5 years in his position. One thing you can count on Juice being is inconsistent. I personally do not have a problem with Juice playing some, but Charest should be seeing signiicant playing time to prepare for next year. This team more than likely will not see a bowl this year and needs to look toward the future.

I attended Illinois in the 80's. The coaching staff could teach the QB's to hit receivers. It is shameful how inaccrate the Illini QB's have become. At least 2 missed TD's on balls that weren't close to anyone on the playing field, offense or defense.

Unfortunately, Charest looks like the redshirt freshman he is. Panicky, no patience, gun shy, happy feet, etc. etc. He really regressed today, to the point he may not see any more playing time until next year. Such a difference a week makes. He looks like he does not belong on a Div I team.

Makes you think this program needs a full-time QB coach for next year.

Looked better at the end of game. Hate to lose on a badly blown call like today.

Typical Big Ten officiating. Worst refs in the nation. Terrible all game long.

Charest didn't look good, but I don't think he looked awful. I wouldn't use "regression" as a term from one game to the next. I certainly wouldn't say he looked like he doesn't deserve to be on a Div-1 team. Two weeks ago he was taking snaps like a 3rd stringer, now all of the sudden he's first team and all the snaps, practice, pressure and extra workload that comes with, be patient with him.
And we do have a full-time QB coach for the first time in several years:
