They looked good tonight. Despite the shootout loss they played NHL's hottest hockey team and held them to a garbage goal. The Blues outworked the flyers in the corners and on the boards. Led by Oshie and Eller...spark plugs the offense played well but failed to score. However transition game and cycling was good. I also thought Perron played well and is using as much weight as he has to his advantage. He is playing great. Also thought Kariya had extra jump in his step.

Defense was good. I thought Pietrangelo had another great game. He really moves the puck well. Brewer played well along with EJ. I like Sydor back there and Mason played awesome.

Yea a loss but I feel a lot better about this team than I did last saturday

+1 I agree totally.
This was the desperate, relentless Blues team that Hitchcock talked about, when the said the Blues just keep coming, and finally wear you out.
When was the last time we had a player give Pronger a hard time as much as Eller did tonight? I'm a huge Pronger fan, but that was fun to watch..A rookie in his second game treating Pronger like he was just another dman. good stuff.

+2 Saw the game live. By far, IMO, the best effort of the season against a very good team at home. And that includes the wins at Anaheim and Carolina! Wink

Hoping to add MacDonald and Jax back to the line-up soon. Andy Mac was sorely missed tonight...

I'm thinking this was a circle the calender game. If the goal scorers can get untracked this team could be scary. The talent level shift to shift may be the best ever, albeit young and inexperienced.

tomorrow's game will be the tell-tale sign. If they follow this game up with another inspired effort then look out. Another stinker, then its gonna be a long, frustrating, up and down season. Just my humble opinion, but tonight was encouraging to say the least.

I saw a couple transitions tonight that were so bang bang fast it had me smiling like a butcher's dog. Both almost ended in a goal. Before we've been so slow and plodding on heading back up ice.

Agree as well. The guys seemed to finally be clicking. I commented on how good the transition looked during the game. Brew, EJ, Petro, even Sydor were all making very good, crisp outlet passes.

I think adding EJ and Kariya kinda messed up the chemistry alittle to start. The guys got it in their heads that the games would be easier with those two back. Now the seemed to have realized they still have to play hard to win.

I was hoping tonight would be our 'Boston' game from last year...the game we turned it around. Hopefully the guys don't take the loss hard and know that that is how they have to play to win games now. The offense will come with the improved transition and overall improved team play. I still think we are in for a good season...never though otherwise, TBH.
