2001: lost as a favorite to Bowling Green
2002: lost as a favorite to Bowling Green
2003: lost as a favorite to Kansas
2003: lost as a favorite to Colorado
2004: lost as a favorite to Troy
2004: lost as a favorite to Ok State
2004: lost as a favorite to K State
2004: lost as a favorite to Kansas
2005: lost as a favorite to New Mexico
2005: lost as a favorite to Kansas
2006: lost as a favorite to Iowa State
2008: lost as a favorite to Ok State
2008: lost as a favorite to Kansas
2009: lost as a favorite to Baylor

2-4 against KU is the kind of record that got Onofrio fired.

My top 5 would be Troy, K-State 2004, KU 2004, ISU 2006, and now Baylor 2009.

Last year to OSU and KU should be there because of expectations, but my expectations of Pinkel's coaching ability is not high so those two did not surprise me as much as my top 5.

My top signature loss is still KU 2004 because of being in attendance and hating to lose to KU.

Ok, I was not clear, I meant for Pinkel. If you do the whole program you are right. Clearly the most infamous game in our history.

I'll fix the title.

Kansas in 2004 was worse than this IMO. I'd probably put yesterday #2 however.

I'm not going to debate what constitutes a "signature" loss, as everyone has differing opinions. However, in half of those games you listed, those teams ended up higher ranked than we did at the end of the season, and many went bowling.

Doesn't make yesterdays debacle feel any better however.

Sofa, perhaps a truce, since the truth hurts?

I'll move on to BB season, and the season is here, did you catch any of the Truman State game? What fun to watch Mike Anderson coach and teach fundamental basketball based on in your face defense, sharing the ball and giving your all when in the game.

You stop trying to deify Mike Alden. He has done good things overall for the program, but he is still responsible for the Synder era. Automatic disqualificaton for sainthood.

The Baylor game has to rank as the worst loss ever. Why?

Because the North Division was there for the taking this year. Easy home games against Baylor and Iowa State along with a neutral site game against a bad KU team left a path wide open for the Tigers. K-State was the only thing blocking it. All we had to do is take care of business at home.

We need to hire from outside the program for a Defensive Coord. Steckel is a hard worker but isn't the right man for the job. Also, the lack of a running game has played itself out. Pinkel needs to commit to it.

I can't believe losing to any D-1 program can possibly outdo losing to Troy or Bowling Green. These are city colleges. These are glee-club teams. These are NOT organized football programs. To even come CLOSE to losing to these teams is a disgrace.

Losing to New Mexico? Outside of Temple and Duke, Wm & Mary and west of the Mississippi, UNM and New Mex State are usually the worst of all teams for two-thirds of the country.

But 2009 Baylor? And not only losing to them, but making them look GOOD doing it!

In his first four appearances, Baylor's various forums already had over 200 threads started with "Nick Lawrence sucks!". Yet, Pinkel & Co. makes him look like a Heisman candidate!

He set a Baylor school record (427 yards) against Mizzou! I know Mizzou doesn't have a great defense, but c'mon - a SCHOOL RECORD, Pinkel?!!

Baylor players laughed, "No one respected us, but at least one team does now!" ONE TEAM.

ONE.

Laughing Laughing Laughing

I wonder if this is what Urban Meyer thought when he was coaching his Bowling Green team against Mizzou those years. I'll have to check his bio Wink

The Troy loss is clearly the worst. At a time when the program did not regularly get national coverage and wasn't expecting much, the Troy game represented the start of something special - that never materialized. I can remember that night clearly, in our dorms, watching with pure shame as Troy ate up the secondary

That was a bad lose, E.S.P.N. Thursday night game, #19 Mizzou embarrassed themselves on national t.v. losing to an unranked Troy. Mizzou scored touchdowns on their first two possessions, and then gave up 24 unanswered points. Kinda sounds familiar?
