With official unemployment at 10.2% and rising, and real unemployment closer to 17.5% (includes people who have given up looking and are therefore no longer counted and those who are underemployed--i.e., no longer have a decent paying fulltime job, but have had to settle for significantly lower paying partime work), it isn't clear who is going to pay for this new entitlement?

No serious analyst--i.e., nonkoolaid drinkers--believe that this will be anywhere near budget neutral.

When an alcoholic undereducated Republican president wants to spend a few trillion to kill innocent civilians you financial geniuses are nowhere to be found. Utter hypocrisy.

They haven't forgotten, but they are doing a spectacular job of ignoring it.

The right has several GB of strawmen on file to use to defend this position when necessary. Laughing

Umm, yeah, okay. I guess that means Obama is killing innocent civilians now?

Besides, your post 1) has zero to do with the original point and 2) Bush is no longer POTUS.

Here's the pattern I see:

Step 1) a legitimate question is brought up regarding Obama's performance/priorities...
Step 2) koolaid drinker realizing he/she can't legitimately defend the point resorts to what amounts to, but Bush was much worse response.

You do realize that strategy won't work in 2012 if the ecomony is awful. People ultimately don't want excuses.

Once again this has little to do with a legitimate point of who will pay for this new expense should unemployment increase or stay high...

Once again I tell that the payee will remain the same one. The tax payer. Until businesses are motivated, prodded into motivation to start hiring and retaining people nothing will change. No one wants to see the govt restart the old WPA and CCC programs from the Great Depression. However, at least $300-400B could be cut from the Defense budget and used elsewhere.

Who's going to pay for it, okay genius who is paying for the health care we have now and if the plan saves money who is going to get the savings?

We aren't starting at zero.

Two points:

1. Here's a simple, unrebuttable, unreducible fact Richie: It's not the number of unemployed that's important when it comes time to pay.

GDP GREW in the last quarter - by about 3%. That means - and this is straightforward macroeconomics 101 - that the sum of all domestic personal incomes grew by 3% in the 3Q. This *despite* mounting job losses and underemployment. In short, there was more economic activity (buying and selling) among those who were employed and self-employed.

Now, as the Federal Government funds itself primarily from income taxes, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure this out.

2. Costs are NOT created equal. Especially over time.

An oil change costs about $25. An engine re-build about $5000. If you change your oil every 3 months, you're out-of-pocket for your annual budget $100. BUT, you avoid having to payout that $5000. Your costs are higher in the early years, but lower over the life of the car. The concept applies to health care costs too.

Stimulus jobs=WPA . . . get a clue. Who do you think is paying for all of government anyway?

However, at least $300-400B could be cut from the Defense budget and used elsewhere.
Typical left wing whackjob - "cut defense spending". Until when? What is enough defense in your estimation? When we have 3 dozen soldiers with slingshots?

You people are unbelievable.

Do you honestly believe that this will save money?

Where does it say that and how much are they telling you will come back to your packet?

I'll be you think someone in Nigeria is going to share their fortune with you too. Rolling Eyes
