Not everything is connected to STL, just most things.

As you may know, Elizabeth Colbert Busch — sister of TV star Stephen Colbert of the "Colbert Report" — is one of two Democrats running in a special election this spring to become a South Carolina congresswoman. What you may not know is she was born in St. Louis, and her dad used to be sort of a big deal around here. (No, not those Buschs.)

Her father, James W. Colbert Jr., became the dean of St. Louis University School of Medicine in 1953. he was the 32 years old, at the time the youngest dean of a U.S. medical school. Elizabeth was born here in 1954.

The family left STL in 1961, when James Colbert took a position with the National Institute of Health. Baby brother Stephen was born in 1964 in Washington D.C.
