A dream job to say the least, John Ulett admits -- being the booth announcer for the team he has rooted for since his days growing up near Lafayette Park.

The St. Louis Cards announcer also has held down a disc jockey slot at another STL icon, KSHE Real Rock Radio.

"I never get tired of this," Ulett said, motioning toward the ballfield before today's NLCS game. "If anything, I've come to love baseball more over the years. I'm enjoying it more than I ever have.

Ulett conceded that success makes for a better job.

"We've seen some amazing baseball over the last 15 years or so," said Ulett, who started in 1983. "During the early '90s, it was a bit of a grind I guess, but I still liked it."

A workhorse at KSHE for years, he now only works from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. during the week and then 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sundays.
