Look Back: Martin Luther King assassination

The Dismantling Racism & Privilege Ministry Team of the Presbytery of Giddings-Lovejoy Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) has planned two events for the upcoming Martin Luther King, Jr., weekend.

A workshop on "Race and the Criminal Justice System: the New Jim Crow?" will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2012 from 8:45-12:30. Panelists include Bevy Beimdiek, Doug Burris, Clark Porter and Judge Booker T. Shaw, formerly Chief Judge of Missouri Court of Appeals.

On Sunday, a worship service will be held at 3 p.m. featuring Jan Good, the senior litigator for the Federal Public Defender's office, Eastern district of Missouri.

All events are open to the public and will be held at Cote Brilliante Presbyterian Church, 4673 Labadie Avenue, St. Louis. (www.cotebrilliantepc.com)
