Neiman Marcus hosts a Fashion's Night Out shopping party tomorrow from 6 to 9 p.m in Frontenac Plaza.

Sept. 10 is a the date of a global initiative to celebrate fashion, restore consumer confidence, boost the industry's economy and put the fun back in shopping.

So far, Neiman Marcus is the only St. Louis retailer to register with Fashion's Night Out, but the effort is gaining steam across the country.

The effort is most pronounced in New York, where the city will be overrun with activities to draw people into stores: the Olsen twins are judging karoke, Stuart Weitzman will take on ping pong challengers and guest designers Christian Siriano, Lela Rose, Patricia Field and Isabel Toledo will sign autographs and mingle with consumers during a meet-and-greet at Payless Shoe Source.

In St. Louis, you can enjoy a show of fall looks picked out by fashion editors Nicole Benoist Edgerton of "St. Louis Magazine" and Suzy Bacino of "Ladue News." Jazz St. Louis will provide live music and artist Stan Chisholm will be creating a city scene which will be auctioned off to benefit the Contemporary Art Museum.

Initiated by American Vogue and the Council of Fashion Designers of America, NYC & Company, and the City of New York, the event is supported by 15 international Vogue editions -- Australia, Britain, China, France, Germany, Greece, India, Italy, Japan, Korea, Portugal, Russia, Spain, Taiwan and Turkey.

Fashion's Night Out will be the subject of a one-hour special on CBS, Sept. 14. For more information visit www.fashionsnightout.com.
