Tell us about yourself. • I grew up in Ballwin and worked in St. Louis as an accountant for 30-plus years. Six years ago, I retired, moved to Piedmont and started making jewelry as a hobby. I gave pieces to my friends, and then my husband and I decided to start selling at craft shows. I’ve been showing and selling my jewelry at craft shows, flea markets, fairs and festivals. My first show was at the Lindbergh High School Craft Fair. It was a huge success. I was overwhelmed.

What type of beads do you work with? • I use glass beads and stones such as turquoise, amethyst, aventurine, red and orange coral, jasper, tiger eye, rhodolite and rose quartz.

Where do you get your wire and chains? • I buy them at Michael’s and Hobby Lobby. My beads come from online shopping sites.

What other items are needed to create your collection? • Spacer and enhancement beads, wire cutters, pliers and magnetic hooks.

Why magnetic hooks? • Most of my customers are middle age and elderly. The magnetic hooks are easier for my customers than other types.

What matters to you most as a jewelry designer? • I want my customer to be completely happy and satisfied.

What are some of your goals? • I want to expand my business, and I want my craft to remain fun. I love meeting adorable families that love jewelry.

What is the most meaningful piece of jewelry you wear? • It’s a bronze set (necklace, bracelet and earrings) made by my daughter, Sherryl, 48. It was a Christmas gift three years ago.

What is one piece of jewelry you wouldn’t be caught dead wearing? • I don’t like jewelry made with feathers.

What are your prices? • Earrings range from $3 to $5. Necklace are $8 to $15, and my bracelets range from $4 to $6.

What else do you make? • Watches. I purchase watch faces and make decorative bracelets for the watch. Watches are $10, and they come with one bracelet. Extra bracelets are $5 each.
