How long • The city park loop is 1.4 miles. Add stretches of the Fenton Meramec Greenway along the river and it can stretch to 5 miles.

Users notes • The trail is in a cluster of small green spaces. Along the trail are shelters that overlook the river. The foliage is thick in the spring and thicker in middle and late summer.

Parking • In the park and some lots along Larkin Williams Road along the Greenway and riverfront.
Facilities • Located in the park, but bring water if you plan the longer walk.

Dresser Island hike
What • A 6.5-mile winter hike over a remote area near West Alton in St. Charles County to search for wildlife and participate in the Cornell University Great Backyard Bird Count. Watch for pelicans, ducks geese, eagles, trumpeter swans, muskrat mounds and other sights.

Where • Dresser Island Conservation Area. From U.S. Highway 67 northwest on Missouri Highway 94. Watch for the Dresser Island sign. There's one parking lot.
