Screenings, reviews

The Veterans Administration is sending out hundreds of letters warning people who got dental services at the John Cochran Division of the St. Louis VA Medical Center from Feb. 1, 2009, to March 11, 2010, that they could be at risk from improperly sanitized equipment. The VA:

• Is offering free blood tests with no co-payment to screen for hepatitis B virus, hepatitus C virus and HIV infection. Tests will be conducted at three outpatient clinics — the Jefferson Barracks Division, the Belleville clinic or the St. Charles clinic.

• Set up a call center for questions that will be operated 24 hours a day. The number is 1-888-374-3046.

• Opened a dental review walk-in clinic on Tuesday at VA Medical Center's Cochran Division. Hours are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday-Friday and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
