More

With the erratic conditions that come with changing seasons, many walkers want trails with a minimum of mud and near an indoor refuge where they can warm up. That's what makes Laumeier Sculpture Park an inviting place to walk.

Where • 12580 Rott Road, St. Louis.

Surface of trail • Different sections in asphalt, wood chips and gravel.

How long • 1.4-mile loop.

Difficulty • Easy, but the grounds have several staircases and gentle hills.

Can be used for • Walking.

User's note • The artwork is engaging and helps distract from the fact that you're getting exercise by walking. The path leads to exhibits that are deeper into the park. Less-traveled paths with destinations to exhibits branch off the main trail. Watch for clusters of art and ruins of old structures. Now through Jan. 22, the park's exhibition center features "Electric is the Love," which features artists from the St. Louis region.

Wheelchair accessible • On the asphalt sections.

Parking • Plenty of parking.

Dogs • On leash outdoors.

Facilities • At the main building.

Hours • For the park, 8 a.m. to sunset daily. Check the website for museum and gallery hours.

More info • Visit LaumeierSculpturePark.org or call 314-615-5278.
