On Dec. 21, Sheroo Mukthiar, executive director of Springboard, center, delivered 75 hats knit by fourth graders at Brown Elementary School in the Hazelwood School District to Friends of Kids with Cancer, represented by Catie Dandrige, communications specialist, and Judy Ciapciak, executive director. The students learned to knit colorful hats on a loom as part of the Red Thread Project in which 500 fourth graders at seven local schools made the caps on looms, danced with a string connecting them wearing the hats outdoors at Laumeier Sculpture Park and then donated them to a charity of their choice.
