COSTAS AND CARVEY: Comedian Dana Carvey is on tap to keep the laughs coming at the 24th Annual Bob Costas Benefit for SSM Cardinal Glennon Children's Medical Center beginning at 8 p.m., April 21 at The Fox Theatre.

Carvey is an Emmy-award winning comedian who was on the cast of "Saturday Night Live" from 1986 to 1992, where he created such indelible characters as the "Church Lady" and "Garth" of "Wayne & Garth."

On the big screen he's been in the "Wayne's World" hits, both based on the SNL skit, and in "This is Spinal Tap," among other shows. Carvey is also well-known for his impressions.

Costas has helped raise more than $9 million for the Bob Costas Cancer Center through the benefits. The center provides treatment to young patients with cancer and bleeding disorders, and is a comfortable setting in which children can receive prolonged medical treatments without having to be hospitalized,

In a news release today Costas said: "I am excited to once again host this worthwhile and fun event in St. Louis. Dana is a terrific comedic talent, and we will soon announce the musical component which will complete what should be another memorable event to support this world-class pediatric medical center. We are grateful to the performers who donate their time and talent, allowing us to continue to make the evening a tremendous success."
