BERRY GOOD: None other than our town's paper genius - Cheree Berry -- designed the wedding stationery (which included invitations, save-the-date cards, place cards and thank you cards) for last month's top-secret wedding of Chelsea Clinton and Marc Mezvinsky.
Berry said she is still forbidden to discuss details of the order and the six months she spent working on it nearly full time. She would only disclose that she made between 550 and 600 invitations and that they were elegant, classic and top-of-the-line quality wise.
Chelsea and Hillary Clinton met once with Berry in New York to discuss specifics. Berry said they were gracious and easy to work with and that Hillary was very efficient. "You could tell why she is the Secretary of State," Berry commented. She added that Chelsea was even prettier in person than she looks on TV and in photographs.
Berry, who is known for using lush colors, unique designs and impeccable craftsmanship in her work, said she couldn't tell us the color, style or design of the stationery the Clintons chose for the wedding.
Berry is a Washington University grad who started Cheree Berry Papers in January 2006. Before starting her company, Berry was an associate art director at Kate Spade in New York City and was in charge of designing wedding stationery and personalized stationery lines. She is also the author and designer of the craftily created pop-up book, "Hoorah for the Bra."
In other news from Berry's Central West End workshop, Kristen Armstrong, who has her MBA from Harvard and relocated here from New York with her locally born husband, Rob Armstrong, is running the business end of Cheree Berry Papers. Hubby is the managing director at Stifel Nicolaus Weisel.
