Just in time for Halloween, we're hearing about an item that parents probably won't want showing up in their kids' trick-or-treat bags.

How about some marijuana-shaped candy?

No, the candy won't get anyone who eats it high. As the Associated Press reports:

The "Pothead Ring Pots," "Pothead Lollipops" and bagged candy are distributed to retail stores by the novelty supply company Kalan LP of the Philadelphia suburb of Lansdowne. It also wholesales online for $1 for a lollipop and $1.50 for a package of three rings.

Company president Andrew Kalan said the candy, on the market six to nine months and in 1,000 stores around the country, promotes the legalization of marijuana.

Kalan said the candy does pretty well in sales, and he's had very few complaints.

One of those complaints came from Buffalo, N.Y.,where a city council member called it "ignorant and irresponsible" to have as tore sell candy that depicts illegal substances.

The candy part of the ring is shaped like a marijuana leaf. The packaging shows a joint-smoking, peace sign-waving user and has the word "Legalize" on it.

Is this a bad idea or just for fun? What if your kid got some "pot rings" while out trick-or-treating?
