Are a lot of St. Louisans somewhat baffled by the hoo-haw over Tim Tebow and his displays of faith?

Maybe it's because we have been home to Albert Pujols, who points heavenward after he gets a hit. Maybe it's because we have been home to Kurt Warner, who gave credit to God for what he accomplished during his storied tenure as an NFL quarterback.

A report in today's USA Today focuses on Tebow, the Denver Broncos quarterback, and how his willingness to point heavenward and drop to one knee, is putting him in the spotlight.

"So why is a quarterback who has started 10 games in his professional career the dividing line in how we like our religion and sports?...

"People have a sense that he is shoving religion down our throats," said Patton Dodd, author of "The Tebow Mystique."

Dodd, who believes "it is a little bit unfair" to criticize Tebow says "there developed a piety about his piety."

There are many athletes who are willing to be open about their faith and their religion. Albert Pujols is a superstar, so he gets more attention than a second-string player. Tim Tebow has helped his team to a 6-1 performance since he became the starter, so he's getting plenty of attention.

But do you think sports and religion should mix? Are you pleased or offended by players like Pujols and Tebow, who make their faith a big part of their public persona? And why are Tebow's acts of faith creating such a furor for some fans?
