ST. LOUIS >Two admit illicit hormone sales • Two St. Charles County men have admitted illegally importing human growth hormone and steroids from China and selling them to other bodybuilders in local gyms, the U.S. attorney's office said. Keith Ashabranner, 32, of O'Fallon, Mo., pleaded guilty Monday to one charge of conspiracy to possess and distribute human growth hormone drugs. The drugs were shipped here with false customs declarations that claimed they were other goods. Ashabranner admitted buying roughly $32,000 worth of drugs and making more than $30,000 from the sales; Loomans spent roughly $10,000 and made the same amount. Loomans is to be sentenced March 16 and could face from probation to six months in prison; Ashabranner could face six to 12 months when he is sentenced May 4.
ST. LOUIS > Fight video sparks lawsuit • A video of a group of women brawling in front of a St. Louis barbershop has sparked a fight of a different kind — in court. The video was purportedly shot March 24, 2010, in front of Big Tymers Barber and Beauty Salon by Kenneth Boyd. The suit says Boyd sold a copy for a "nominal fee" to Big Tymers owner Arvelle White, who unbeknownst to Boyd sold it to Court TV, the suit says. The video then ran on the "Battling Babes" episode of the network's "Top 20 Most Shocking" series, the suit says. Reached Monday, Boyd's lawyer Annette Heller said Boyd did not know the women or White but gave White a copy for $2 or $3. The suit seeks unspecified damages from Turner Entertainment Networks Inc. and Courtroom Television Network LLC. White and the network, now truTV, could not be reached for comment Monday.
