KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A teacher at a Kansas City charter school has been suspended after allegations that the teacher taped the mouth of a 6-year-old student.
The Kansas City Star reports that the alleged incident occurred Tuesday and involved a first-grade student at the Della Lamb charter school.
Judy Akers, executive vice president of Della Lamb Community Services, said school officials did not learn about the allegation until Thursday.
The 6-year-old childs stepfather said his stepson told him he didnt want to go to school Thursday because he was afraid his teacher would tape his mouth shut again.
The parents reported the allegation to police. No charges were filed, and no arrest was made.
The teacher has been suspended without pay pending a school investigation. Missouri child welfare authorities also are investigating.
