ST. LOUIS • The FBI plans to honor a St. Louis Imo's Pizza driver they credit for helping authorities capture the bank robbery suspect dubbed the "McBurglar."
The suspected robber, Antoine L. Boyle, 21, of the 4500 block of Blair Avenue, was nabbed after the April 13 robbery of a US Bank branch in St. Louis.
Boyle allegedly entered the bank, at 5418 Hampton Avenue, wearing camouflage about 11:30 a.m. and handed the teller a note indicating he had two loaded guns.
Michael Kellner, an Imo's Pizza delivery driver who was outside the bank, sensed something wasn't right, took down the man's license plate number and gave it to police after he saw the man leave, authorities said.
Boyle's car, matching Kellner's information, was spotted in the 3400 block of Morganford Road. Boyle ran from an officer and hid under a car before he was arrested, court documents say. His camouflage clothing and the stolen money was found inside the vehicle, police said.
Boyle has been charged in that robbery and the Feb. 25 robbery of a Commerce Bank branch in Spanish Lake.
The FBI is also looking into whether Boyle is responsible for three other robberies: April 7 at a US Bank branch in Richmond Heights, Feb. 28 at a US Bank branch in Fairview Heights and Feb. 19 at a different US Bank branch in St. Louis.
In many of those robberies, the robber was wearing McDonald's clothing, giving him the moniker "McBurglar."
Authorities said Kellner also helped police in another case involving the shooting of a man.
