A St. Louis-area man has been arrested and accused of making a bomb threat to a Lambert-St. Louis International Airport flight earlier this year.

Dorian Mequel Williams, 35, threatened to carry a bomb onto a Continental Airlines flight on Jan. 15, according to prosecutors and investigators in court documents and testimony.

Williams pleaded not guilty Thursday to charges of conveying false information about bombing a commercial aircraft and conveying false information about the destruction of life and property by explosion. He was indicted March 31 but the indictment was sealed until his arrest in California last month.

Williams was arrested there after punching a Santa Monica police officer in the face and being Tasered into submission, court documents show.

He allegedly had a slip of paper with the phone number used to call in the threat in his pocket.

He also had photos of himself in uniform, court documents claim. In 1995, Williams was charged in federal court in St. Louis with impersonating an officer and "requisitioning a government vehicle." Williams pleaded guilty in 1996 and was sentenced to three months in a halfway house. After violating his supervised release, he was sentenced to eight months more. While in prison, he earned himself another conviction and more prison time for threatening the lives of various federal officials, including a prosecutor, a jail official and that official's wife, Assistant U.S. Attorney John Sauer said in court Thursday.

Williams told court staff that he last worked in 2007 and has no assets. Sauer said that Williams lives with his mother in the St. Louis area, but only during the winter months.

Airport spokesman Jeff Lea declined to comment on the case.
