HERMANN, Mo. • A farmer who was riding an ATV to sort cattle on a Gasconade County farm was killed Sunday when the ATV overturned and pinned him, police say.
Thomas E. Arey, 77, of Hermann, was pronounced dead by Gasconade County Coroner Ben Gross at 5:30 p.m. Sunday. The Missouri Highway Patrol said the exact time of the accident isn't known.
Arey was at a private residence on Little Bay Road in Hermann when he went out sorting cattle. He was using an ATV to do that job. He accelerated quickly, causing the ATV to overturn and pin him beneath it, the patrol says.
