A Springfield, Ill. man was indicted on a federal prostitution charge this week for allegedly prostituting an underage runaway online.
Corey Allen Lockett, 23, was stopped by Arnold police on June 26, according to an affidavit filed in court by FBI Special Agent Ryan C. Thornton.
Police found two teens in the car, ages 15 and 16, who had been reported missing by a parent, and prostitution ads, customer lists and scripts for replying to potential customers, Thornton wrote.
The older girl told police that Lockett placed ads on Craigslist, and that she “performed acts of prostitution” and split the money with Lockett, Thornton wrote.
Lockett told investigators that he is a pimp and admitted pimping the older teen and other girls, Thornton wrote. He admitted that he knew the older girl was underage and allowed the younger girl to accompany her into a motel room, Thornton wrote.
Lockett was indicted Thursday and appeared in federal court in St. Louis Friday afternoon on a charge of interstate transportation of an individual under 18 with the intent to engage in prostitution.
Lockett is in jail. His public defender could not be reached for comment Friday.
