FRANKLIN COUNTY > Man is killed in ATV crash • Michael P. Columbo, 58, of Gerald, was killed late Sunday when he was thrown from his 2001 Yamaha all-terrain vehicle. It overturned after leaving the north side of westbound Angell Road at Highway H south of the city, the Missouri Highway Patrol reported. The accident occurred at about 11:45 p.m. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

FAYETTE COUNTY, ILL. > Ballwin man drowns in lake • A man from Ballwin drowned Sunday morning in Carlyle Lake. About 10 a.m., two hunters found a capsized john boat. A short time later, the body of Cecil Lindsey, 75, was found floating along the shoreline. Fayette County Coroner Bruce Boven said he was not sure what caused the boat to turn over, but he said it may have hit an object in the water.

ST. LOUIS > Suspect arrested in shooting • An officer and a suspect traded shots Sunday after the officer saw the suspect firing at a 39-year old man, St. Louis police said. The officer was one of two who were traveling at 2:20 p.m. west in a police vehicle on the 5900 block of Lucille Avenue when they saw the shooting. One of the officers fired shots at the suspect, a 37-year old man. He was not hit. The suspect turned and fired a shot at the officer, which also missed. The suspect ran through a gangway and out of sight. The victim was shot in the thigh and was in stable condition at a hospital. He and the suspect, who know each other, had been involved in a dispute, police said. The suspect was arrested later at a residence in the 4900 block of Lilburn Avenue.

EAST ALTON > Police seek suspect in robbery • A man who claimed he had four accomplices on Sunday robbed the Farm Fresh Store, 740 East Airline Drive, law enforcement officials said. The Madison County Sheriff's Department said two clerks told deputies that a man walked into the store about 9:25 p.m. and said he needed money. He said he did not have a gun, but four men outside the store did. The clerks handed the robber a small amount of money, the department said. Video surveillance of the store will help capture the suspect, the department said. A police dog from the Granite City Police Department helped track the direction the suspect fled. The Sheriff's Department requested that anyone with information about the suspect call 618-692-0871 or the anonymous tip line at 618-296-3000.
