EDWARDSVILLE - A part-time employee of the Madison County supervisor of assessments office was arrested after a physical altercation with another employee of that office early Tuesday morning.
Madison County sheriff's Capt. Brad Wells said the altercation was in the county administration building but not in the supervisor of assessments office. He said it occurred before the building opened.
Wells said the part-time employee initiated the conflict and was arrested. No charges were made public Tuesday and the two men were not identified.
Wells said neither was seriously hurt and the reason for the altercation was unknown.
"We're not going to tolerate violence in the workplace and we will take very swift action," County Board Chairman Alan Dunstan said.
