One of two men involved in a fight this week at the Madison County Administration Building was charged Wednesday with aggravated battery.
Bail for Barry T. Loman, 55, of the 800 block of Timber Lake Drive in Edwardsville, was set at $30,000.
Sheriff's Capt. Brad Wells said Loman was a part-time employee in the supervisor of assessments office and left a message on a supervisor's phone about 7 a.m. to say he was resigning. Wells and court documents said Loman then went to the administration building and struck another employee of the office, Anthony Manoogian, as he stepped off an elevator.
The two were struggling when deputies arrived.
Joe Parente, the county director of administration, said county officials notified Loman after the incident that his resignation was accepted.
