ST. LOUIS • A police chase ended in St. Louis today after authorities captured several men who fled from a vehicle — including one man who tried to hide in a trash bin.
The chase started when an officer saw a man with a weapon in a car with two other men about noon, according to St. Louis Police Lt. Dan Zarrick. The driver wouldn't stop for police.
"They didn't want to stop, so they ran," he said.
The three men bailed out of the car in the area southwest of the intersection of St. Louis and Newstead avenues. Two men were caught "immediately," Zarrick said.
Tips from callers in the area led police to the third man, who was hiding in a blue trash bin near a church in the 4500 block of St. Ferdinand Avenue.
Police were searching the area for weapons and other evidence the suspects might have ditched.
