ST. LOUIS COUNTY > Source of spill unknown — The source of a smelly spill of chicken parts that shut down Highway 40 (Interstate 64) in west St. Louis County Tuesday evening remains a mystery, police said Wednesday. Chesterfield police Lt. Steve Lewis says police are still looking for the truck that dropped a giant load of chicken parts in the eastbound lanes near the Timberlake Manor Parkway exit about 4:30 p.m. Lewis said the truck may have had the word "American" on it. Anyone with information about the spill is asked to call Chesterfield police at 636-537-3000.
ST. LOUIS > Couple admit federal health care fraud — The husband and wife owners of a St. Louis home health care agency pleaded guilty to federal charges Wednesday and admitted committing health care fraud, the U.S. attorney's office said. Sparks A. Stone, 37, and Keisha A. Stone, 34, owners of The Home Team Home Health Services LLC, pleaded guilty to one count of health care fraud and four counts of making false statements concerning health care benefit programs. The Stones recruited ineligible patients and then submitted bills for unneeded services or services that were not delivered, prosecutors said.
ST. LOUIS > Woman is sentenced for filing false tax returns — Teresa Ovsak, 51, was sentenced in U.S. District Court in St. Louis to 9 1/2 months in prison for filing false tax returns in 2004 and 2005. Ovsak pleaded guilty to two felony counts of making a false tax return in February. She was unemployed and had no income but filed returns indicating income of about $250,000 and withholding of $60,000 each year and made a claim for $76,000 in refunds, prosecutors said.
