LAMBERT AIRPORT > Man accused of threatening to blow up plane • A St. Louis-area man accused of threatening to blow up a plane at Lambert-St. Louis International Airport earlier this year has been arrested. Dorian Mequel Williams, 35, threatened to carry a bomb onto a Continental Airlines flight on Jan. 15, according to prosecutors and investigators in court documents and testimony. Williams pleaded not guilty Thursday to charges of conveying false information about bombing a commercial aircraft and conveying false information about the destruction of life and property by explosion. He was indicted March 31, but the indictment was sealed until his arrest in California last month. Williams was arrested there after punching a Santa Monica police officer in the face and being Tasered into submission, court documents show.

ST. LOUIS > Man admits selling meth precursor to pay child support • Leonard Wilson, 36, of Arnold, pleaded guilty to a federal meth-related charge Thursday and admitted buying more than 5,000 cold pills in 389 trips to pharmacies in eastern Missouri. Wilson admitted that he sold the boxes to others knowing that the pills would be used to manufacture methamphetamine and that he used the money to pay child support and other expenses. Wilson agreed that in total, his purchases between January 2007 and November 2009 totaled more than 300 grams but less than 1 kilogram. In court filings before the guilty plea, Assistant U.S. Attorney Jennifer Winfield said that Wilson actually bought more than 6,700 pseudoephedrine pills on at least 453 separate trips to local pharmacies through 2010. Wilson pleaded guilty Thursday of possessing pseudoephedrine, knowing that it would be used to manufacture methamphetamine. He could face roughly nine to 11 years in federal prison when sentenced later this year.

CLAYTON > County takes trash case to higher court • St. Louis County has asked the Missouri Supreme Court to overturn an appeals court ruling that has allowed David Skaer, a resident of unincorporated south St. Louis County, to live legally in a trash collection district without having to use a hauler. Skaer pleaded his own case, arguing that his household produces no trash because of intensive recycling and the county wrongfully convicted him of the ordinance infraction of not having a hauler. The state appeals court for the eastern district ruled the county had failed in its duty to prove that Skaer produced trash. The county on Aug. 20 said the Supreme Court should reverse the appeals court because the judges who heard Skaer's case were biased against the county, Skaer failed to follow court rules and the county municipal court was correct to assume every household generates trash and can convict people who lack a hauler.

EAST ST. LOUIS > Teen charged in slaying • St. Clair County prosecutors charged a 15-year-old with first-degree murder in the shooting death of Demario R. Moore. Moore, of Belleville, was shot once as he walked into the Crown Food Mart, a gas station at 25th and State Streets in East St. Louis about 4 a.m. Sunday. Police didn't release the name of the juvenile, who is jailed at the St. Clair County Juvenile Detention Center in lieu of $500,000 bail.

ST. LOUIS > Two charged in robbery • A man and woman have been charged in the robbery of a Hostess Brand Store last month, and authorities say the two also were involved in previous crimes at the same store. Natasha Martin, 31, has been charged with two counts of robbery and two counts of theft. Carlyle Curry, 36, has been charged with one count of robbery and one of theft. Martin and Curry live in the 7600 block of Virginia Avenue, police said. In the Aug. 18 robbery of the Hostess store, at 6301 North Broadway, police said Curry walked up to the register with a soda as if to pay for it. When the clerk opened the cash register, Martin grabbed the cashier and forced her to the ground and Curry took money from the register. No one was hurt. The other charges against Martin stem from a robbery on April 24 and thefts on June 30 and July 9. Curry's theft charge also stems from a June 30 incident at the store. The two were arrested Wednesday. Bail information was not available.

JEFFERSON CITY > Hearing on protection order against Rep. Nieves is delayed • A Missouri judge has delayed a hearing on whether to order Republican House member Brian Nieves to stay away from a rival candidate's staff member. Cole County Circuit Judge Jon Beetem postponed Thursday's scheduled hearing until Sept. 20. Nieves' attorney, Michael Payne, said he requested the delay so he could review a recently amended petition filed on behalf of Shawn Bell. Bell was the campaign manager for Dick Stratman, whom Nieves defeated in the Aug. 3 Republican primary for a state Senate seat from eastern Missouri. Bell is seeking an order of protection against Nieves. He claims Nieves roughed him up when he visited Nieves' campaign office the day after the primary. Payne has said the allegations against his client are baseless.

JEFFERSON CITY > Appeals court keeps strip club law in place • A Missouri appeals court panel has refused to halt a new law imposing restrictions on strip clubs and adult video stores. A law that took effect over the weekend requires sexually oriented businesses to close at midnight and prohibits full nudity, among other things. A Cole County judge denied a request Friday to issue a temporary restraining order against the law. A coalition of store owners and erotic dancers then asked the Missouri Court of Appeals' Western District to order the judge to block the law. The appeals court denied that request Wednesday. That means the law will remain in effect while a lawsuit challenging it continues in Cole County court.
