A Illinois girl who was abducted from a St. Louis hospital by her father Sunday afternoon was found safe Sunday night at a Milwaukee hospital, St. Louis police officials said shortly after 11 p.m. Sunday.
The girl, Brittany Jones, 14, was found with her father. Illinois authorities were immediately notified.
Brittany was in the custody of the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services when she was taken by her father around 2 p.m. Sunday from Cardinal Glennon Children's Medical Center in St. Louis, police said.
Police then issued an alert to notify the public that they were searching for a girl who could be in "grave danger" if she didn't receive medical treatment.
Brittany had a kidney transplant last year. A doctor at the hospital was worried she was not receiving medication and notified authorities, said Katie O'Sullivan, a spokeswoman for the St. Louis Police Department. The girl was then put in protective custody.
But her father, Dana Jones, was able to walk out of the hospital with her, O'Sullivan said.
Jones was supposed to undergo a medical treatment at 9:45 p.m. on Sunday. O'Sullivan said did not know what kind of treatment.
