GRANITE CITY • An elementary school teacher charged with possessing heroin on Nov. 28 has resigned her teaching position at Wilson School.

Paulina M. Suess, 34, of Granite City was charged with possessing less than 15 grams of heroin, a felony, and misdemeanor charges of possessing drug paraphernalia and a hypodermic syringe. Suess entered please of not guilty of the charges and is free on bail pending trial.

Suess had been suspended by the Granite City School District following her arrest. The school board accepted her resignation on Dec. 13. It is effective Dec. 27.
