DELLWOOD • A dozen people were arrested Monday because of two fights in as many days over the use of a shared driveway, police said.
Sgt. Dave Kopfensteiner of the St. Louis County Police Department, which is currently overseeing operations of the Dellwood Police Department, said police received a call about a fight in the 10100 block of Jett Drive Sunday at 2:30 p.m. At issue was a shared driveway between two homes. The driveway splits behind the houses. Someone at one of the two houses had blocked someone in the driveway of the other home with their car, he said.
Five people were cited for assault Sunday.
Monday, as a television station interviewed residents about the previous day's dust-up, another fight broke out between residents and visitors from both homes. Kopfensteiner said eight people were taken into custody, including several who had been taken into custoday the day before.
A short time later, police were back on the scene for another fight. Two more people were taken into custody.
Less than an hour later, police were back at the residences after reports that yet another fight had broken out.
"That time, we cleared both houses out, and took everybody left into custody," Kopfensteiner said.
In all, 12 people were taken into custody, including 10 for assault and two for outstanding warrants. Two other people who had been at the homes were being sought by police, Kopfensteiner said.
