The suspended principal of Point Elementary School in the Mehlville School District will not be returning, Superintendent Eric D. Knost said Saturday.
In a statement sent by email, Knost said the district will immediately begin a search for a replacement for Jim Walters.
The district had placed Walters on paid leave after he was given a citation for lewd and indecent conduct in Forest Park in March. A police officer said he saw Walters grab his genitals while talking to someone in a vehicle.
Walters has requested a trial in the incident. The next court date on the matter is set for July 26.
The statement from Knost did not say if Walters was leaving voluntarily.
“I realize many of you may have questions regarding the reasons Dr. Walters will not be returning to his principal duties; however, please know it is inappropriate for the district to disclose or discuss such personnel matters relating to employees,” Knost said.
