ST. ANN • A Moline Acres man has been charged in the fatal shooting of a pregnant St. Ann woman.
Phillip C. Parish, 20, of the 9700 block of Edgefield Drive, faces two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of armed criminal action in the shooting death of Tabitha Buckingham, 20.
Police said Parish, acting with others, fatally shot Buckingham sometime between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. May 22.
A friend of Buckingham's found her dead about 11:30 p.m. May 25 in her apartment at the Ridge Point complex, 3424 Sabourin Street, St. Ann. Police said Buckingham had been shot twice in the head and that her 2-year-old daughter was asleep next to her when she was found.
The toddler was not hurt and is now with relatives, police said.
The Major Case Squad investigated the case. Police said Parish knew Buckingham was pregnant. Police, however, have not said who else was involved in the killing. Police also have not described Parish and Buckingham's relationship.
Parish was arrested over the weekend and is jailed in St. Louis County in lieu of a $100,000 cash bail.
Buckingham was a few months pregnant, police said.
