EAST ST. LOUIS • A man was shot to death at a gas station at 83rd and State streets, police said Wednesday night.

Police were dispatched to a shooting at the Mobil gas station, 8301 State Street, around 6:22 p.m. They found 46-year-old Craig Tolson, shot multiple times in the abdomen. Tolson, of East St. Louis, was pronounced dead at the scene just after 7 p.m., police said.

Tolson's is the 13th confirmed homicide in the city this year.

Francella Jackson, the East St. Louis police department's director of community programs, said Tolson was a janitor at Dunbar Elementary School.
