UNIVERSITY CITY • Prosecutors are considering charges against a 29-year-old woman police say fatally injured a bicyclist late Friday night.
Police late Friday arrested the driver of a Honda Accord that struck a bicyclist about 11:20 p.m. Friday in the 7500 block of Delmar Boulevard.
The woman, whom police would not identify, was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated. She was released from the University City jail as prosecutors consider charges.
Samuel Scott, 19, was only a block from his home in the 7400 block of Delmar when he was struck. He was taken by ambulance to Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis and died about 2:35 p.m. Saturday.
The driver of the Honda stayed at the crash scene and cooperated with police.
Scott was struck as he was riding home from his job as a cook at Dewey's Pizza at 559 North and South Road in University City, said Dave Roush, a manager of the restaurant. He said Scott had worked at the restaurant since September.
Roush described Scott as a quiet, polite person with good people skills, often asking coworkers about their families and holidays.
"He was a good-spirited guy," Roush said. "Always in a good mood."
