ST. LOUIS • Just moments after he was spotted molesting a 4-year-old developmentally disabled student, a teachers' aide at Sigel Elementary School was found in a bathroom stall with another boy also under his care, according to prosecutors.

John Cuneo, 66, was charged today in St. Louis Circuit Court with first-degree child molestation, sexual contact with a student by a teacher, and first-degree attempted child molestation.

Two school employees allegedly witnessed the sexual encounters on Oct. 18.

According to a probable cause statement:

Cuneo, an instruction care aide for the St. Louis Public School District, was caught placing the first boy's hand on his penis. An employee who allegedly witnessed it was coming back from reporting the incident when she saw Cuneo enter the bathroom stall with another 4-year-old, also developmentally delayed. She alerted the school social worker, who entered the stall and found the boy with his pants down.

Cuneo, according to court filings, said he was helping the boy go to the bathroom, but the boy's father said his son does not need help doing so.

A district spokesman has not yet been reached for comment.
