ST. LOUIS • Police said a woman died and a man was in critical condition Saturday as a result of carbon monoxide poisoning.

The couple lived in a home in the 3900 block of St. Louis Avenue. Six children who lived in an apartment in the same building reportedly were sickened. They went to a hospital but were expected to be released Saturday night.

The victim's names were not immediately available. Police said the male victim had hooked up a generator in the building.

Police bomb and arson officers were checking the building.
