ST. LOUIS • A man was shot to death after a road rage incident late Wednesday night in north St. Louis, police say.
The gunman is still on the loose.
Christopher Walton-Jones, 19, was fatally shot after a passenger in his car became involved in an altercation with another motorist in the 8500 block of North Broadway.
The shooting happened at about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday near Hickey Park.
Moments earlier, Walton-Jones had been driving south on North Broadway. Someone driving east on Wall Street in a dark-colored pickup turned onto North Broadway, nearly hitting Walton-Jones' car.
The passenger riding with Walton-Jones started quarreling with the pickup's driver.
Walton-Jones tried to drive away, but someone in the pickup fired a shot at Walton-Jones' car. The bullet hit Walton-Jones under his armpit. He was taken to a local hospital, where he died. His passenger was uninjured.
The gunman's vehicle was described as a black Chevy, extended cab truck with a dull paint job.
Walton-Jones lived in the 8500 block of Concord Place in the Baden neighborhood of St. Louis.
