ST. LOUIS • Three men accused of stealing loot from the city's record $6.6 million heist at the ATM Solutions cash depot face charges of being accessories after the fact, officials said Monday.
Jacobi Oliphant, 26, and two uncles, Robert Oliphant, 49, and Eddie Oliphant, 43, were arrested Friday on an indictment that claims they removed currency from a storage locker Aug. 5, 2010, and hid it. Although the source of that cash is not specified, the facts match the ATM Solutions case.
U.S. Attorney Richard Callahan confirmed the connection and said, "This is a case where we're getting people for stealing from robbers."
Other documents filed as part of the case claim that Latunya Wright, 37, a former girlfriend of one of the four robbers, hid almost $4 million in the storage facility a day after the Aug. 2, 2010, robbery.
It appeared that at least $1.3 million was stolen by others who helped handle the loot, or their associates, according to previous court testimony. Seventeen people have been charged in the crime.
Yolanda Willis, 38, pleaded guilty Nov. 3 of making false statements and admitted helping the robbers hide the loot by taking bags of cash from a storage facility with her brother and another relative. The brother is identified in some court documents as Jacobi Oliphant.
It is unclear what happened to the money the three men are accused of taking.
Callahan said the new charges were "all part of an effort to see if we can track down and recover as much of the money as possible." He said roughly half the $6.6 million has been found.
