A new ad from Todd Akin features a woman saying she was raped and had an abortion.

"I'm a woman who's had an abortion," says a woman identified as Kelly Burrell, who expressed regret over her decision. "I've been raped in my past. The reason that I'm voting for Todd and that I'm so proud of him is because he defends the unborn. He's a kind man, a compassionate man."

The ad doesn't mention Akin's comment in August that women can somehow avoid pregnancy after a "legitimate rape."

The candidate saw his funding dry up after the comment, but has recently seen an influx for new ads as polls show a close race between Akin and Democrat U.S. Sen. Claire McCaskill.

Another woman named Zoya in the ad equates abortion with communist Russia, saying the Akin knows the goal is to "protect life not to control life like they did in Russia."
