Tea Party activists from around the Midwest are preparing for a major gathering under the Arch next month in what figures to be one of the group's largest rallies before the November midterm elections.
The Sept. 12 rally will draw attention to the movement's "9/12" efforts -- a push to replicate the country's unity the day after the 2001 terrorist attacks.
Similar rallies will be held the same day in Washington and Sacramento, Calif.
In St. Louis -- where organizers are billing the gathering as "Gateway to November" -- the scheduled speakers include Democratic political consultant turned commentator Dick Morris; outspoken Iowa Republican congressman Steve King; and Mike Flynn, editor of BigGovernment.com.
Local Tea Party staples such as Dana Loesch and Gina Loudon are also expected to appear.
The entertainment line-up features Sikeston-born tenor Neal Boyd, of "America's Got Talent" fame, who also performed earlier this year at a fundraiser featuring President Barack Obama.
In gathering at the Arch, the local Tea Party movement is getting in touch with its roots. When the push was in its nascent stage in 2009, dozens of supporters gathered at the Arch to dump (biodegradable) tea into the Mississippi River.
